Discord Member Boost : OK so last month my gaming server was literally DEAD. Like 12 members dead. Mostly IRL friends who joined out of pity lol. Super embarrassing when I was trying to partner with this indie game developer. They basically laughed at my “community” 😫
After some late nights & way too much coffee, I tested a bunch of different sites that could help. Some were complete SCAMS, but I found 5 that actually delivered. Sharing my uncensored experience below – wish I’d found this info when I started!
⚠️ Quick disclaimer – I’m just sharing what worked for ME. Your results might vary! I’m not affiliated with any of these companies (though honestly wish I was, could use the $$$)
Boostly.to (My #1 Pick)
This wasn’t actually the first site I tried (that honor goes to a scammy site that took my $30 and ghosted me). But Boostly.to is definitely the one I recommend to my streamer friends now.
Here’s what happened: I ordered their basic package ($5 for 100 members) as a test. The members started showing up within like 8 hours? Much faster than expected.
What really surprised me:
- The profiles actually looked normal?? Not the obviously fake accounts I expected
- Some had custom profile pics that weren’t just the default Discord avatar
- When I checked back 2 weeks later, most were still there (unlike another service where half disappeared after a few days)
I ended up ordering their 500 member package after the first success. Cost me around $21 I think? Worth every penny when the next indie dev actually took my partnership request seriously lol.
Their website is kinda basic but whatever, it works. Customer service replied to my confused 2am message within an hour, which was shocking.
SocialPlus (Fancy But Pricey)
SocialPlus feels like the “premium” option in this space. Their website has this corporate vibe that screams “we charge more because we can.”
And yeah, they DO charge more – starts at $9 for the same 100 members that Boostly offers for $5.
Is it worth the extra $$? Depends.
The members they added had more detailed profiles. More of them had:
- Custom banners
- “About me” sections filled out
- Actual server activity statuses
They also have this weird analytics dashboard thing? Shows you retention rates and other stats I didn’t really understand but made me feel important lol.
One annoying thing – they ask TONS of questions about your server. Topic, typical activity, content schedule, etc. Took forever to fill out compared to other sites. Maybe that’s why their targeting seemed better though?
I probably wouldn’t use them again personally (I’m cheap) but my friend who runs a professional art community swears by them. Different needs, different services I guess.
DiscordBoost (Old School Reliable for Discord Member Boost)
Funny story – I found DiscordBoost because my favorite Twitch streamer accidentally left their tab open while screen sharing 😂 Guess I’m not the only one using these services!
Their site looks like it was built in 2010 and never updated. But sometimes the old reliable options are the best? They’ve been around forever, which counts for something in this space.
Price-wise, they’re on the higher end – $15 for 100 members. BUT they run sales constantly. I signed up for their email list and got a 40% off code a week later, which made them competitive with the cheaper options.
What I noticed about their service:
- Sloooow delivery (took almost 4 days)
- More “normal” looking distribution of join times (not everyone joining at once)
- Slightly better retention than Boostly after a month (like 5% better, not dramatic)
They also offer these bundle deals with other social platforms. Didn’t try those because who has the budget? But could be useful if you’re trying to grow multiple platforms at once.
ServerGrow (The Subscription Approach)
ServerGrow does things differently, and I have mixed feelings about it.
Instead of a one-time boost, they focus on monthly subscriptions that add members gradually. Their basic plan ($9.99 for 100 members) works like the other services, but their monthly plans are their main thing.
I tried their starter monthly plan ($29.99) that adds about 10-15 new members daily. The idea is that slow growth looks more natural than suddenly getting 500 new members overnight.
The good:
- Super natural-looking growth pattern
- Nice dashboard to control/pause the growth rate
- Seemed to trigger Discord’s algorithm to recommend my server more
The bad:
- Cancelling was a PAIN (had to email support)
- More expensive long-term than one-time boosts
- Had to remember to budget for it each month
Would I use it again? Maybe if I was starting a brand new server and wanted it to look like organic growth from day one. For my existing server, the one-time boost options made more sense.
ViralSocial (For The Nitpicky Server Owners)
Last on my list is ViralSocial, which I discovered through a Reddit thread where people were debating which service looked “most natural.”
They’re definitely the most customizable option I found. Their base price is higher ($17 for 200 members), but you get WAY more options to customize exactly what types of members you receive.
Some of the weird customizations they offer:
- Members with specific types of profile pics (anime, gaming, professional, etc)
- Members with activity statuses related to your server topic
- Members that appear to be from specific countries/regions
- Premium members with full profiles, custom banners, etc.
I only used them once for a special gaming event my server was hosting. Ordered their “gamer profile” package and specified members who appeared to be fans of the specific game we were focused on.
Was it worth the premium price? For everyday growth, probably not. But for that specific event where we were trying to impress a game developer? Yeah, it actually was. The attention to detail made our server look much more legitimate.
Just be prepared to fill out an annoyingly detailed questionnaire about exactly what you want.
Does This Stuff Actually Work Tho??
Here’s the big question – is paying for Discord members actually worth it? Based on my experience, here’s what happened:
- THE EMPTY RESTAURANT EFFECT IS REAL It’s like when you walk past two restaurants – one packed with people, one completely empty. Which one do you assume has better food?
After boosting my member count, random new REAL people started joining much more frequently. My theory is they joined, saw a server with “hundreds of members,” and decided it was worth sticking around. When I had just 12 members? Crickets.
- PARTNERSHIP DOORS OPENED UP My server got rejected for partnerships 3 times when we had under 50 members. After boosting to 500+? Approved on the first try. Even got approached by a small game studio about becoming their “official” community.
- SOME WEIRD DISCORD ALGORITHM THING About two weeks after boosting, my server started appearing in Discord’s discovery/recommendations. This NEVER happened before. Suddenly we were getting 3-5 organic new members every day without me doing anything.
- THE MOMENTUM FEELS DIFFERENT Having more members (even if many are quiet) changed the vibe completely. Conversations didn’t die immediately. When someone new talked, others responded. The few active members we had seemed more engaged because the server felt “happening.”
The Stuff Nobody Tells You…
Few random things I wish I’d known before starting this whole process:
• EXPECT SOME DROP-OFF: All these services had some percentage of members drop off after a few weeks. Boostly lost about 15% after a month, others were similar. Budget for more than you ultimately want.
• SERVER SETUP MATTERS: Have your channels, roles, and rules completely sorted BEFORE adding members. Trying to reorganize after boosting is a mess.
• DON’T GET OBSESSED WITH NUMBERS: I drove myself crazy checking member counts hourly after my first boost. The numbers will fluctuate. Chill.
• ACTIVITY > MEMBER COUNT: A server with 100 active members is WAY better than one with 1,000 silent ones. Focus on engagement after you’ve boosted your numbers.
• YOU STILL NEED CONTENT: Adding members doesn’t magically create conversation. You need to post regularly, create events, and give people something to talk about.
Final Thoughts From Someone Who’s Been There
Looking back at my Discord journey over the past 6 months, using these services was definitely a turning point. Was it “cheating” compared to growing 100% organically? Maybe. But it’s also the difference between my server existing today vs. me giving up in frustration.
If you’re on the fence, I’d say start small with Boostly’s basic package, see how it feels, and go from there. The confidence boost alone was worth it for me. There’s nothing worse than putting your heart into creating a server that sits empty while you shout into the void.
Just remember that member count is only ONE part of community building. The real work is creating a space where people actually want to hang out and talk.
